Erik's second day of preschool

I'm not sure who is having the most fun with Erik going to preschool. I love it! Kyle loves it! Erik loves it! All for different reasons. Today when I picked Erik up he was wearing his hat that he made. It says "God made me. I am special to him. Erik."
He also sang to me the Goodbye song that they sang at school. "Goodbye Cuddly Cubs, Goodbye Cuddly Cubs, See you on Tue, See you on Thurs, I love you!" Too cute!

Erik's first day of Preschool

Today was Erik's first day of preschool. He's growing up!This first picture is Erik at home eating a strawberry with his reflective backpack. We were getting ready to leave to go to preschool for his first day. He picked up his backpack even before I could remind him.

Family photo (minus Erik) in front of school. Erik didn't want his picture taken this morning once we got to school. Thanks to the photographer, my friend Grae, for documenting the event.

I'm wiping strawberries off his face right before we walk into the school.

Note: The pictures are so foggy because of the South Carolina humidity....yuck!

Erik really wasn't clingy. I just picked him up to take a photo by his teacher, Miss Sarah. Of course you can't make Erik do much unless it is HIS idea. She got a nice picture of Ame and the back of Erik's head. Miss Sarah brought him a Spiderman figure from her house to play with since she knew he liked superheroes so much. That was very thoughtful of her. I handed him Spiderman and then said goodbye and that was that. No drama....it was a bit anticlimactic. I'm sure he will have tons of fun at school this year and not miss me for a minute.
WHEN ASKED ABOUT HIS FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL:

1. What was your favorite part of day?: "cheese puffs and marshmallows"

2. What was your least favorite part of day?: "standing in line"

3. What/who did you play with? "I just played with that castle and that boy with the orange shirt just gave me that guy"

4. Other highlights of the day: The teacher has a reward chart at school and when you have good behavior you get a "bear" on the bulletin board. After you get 4 bears you can pick a prize out of the treasure box. Erik (as well as every other student) got 1 bear on the board. He was so proud he showed me his bear and then decided he needed to pick a prize from the box. When I explained that he did a great job, but he needed to earn more bears first he freaked out. He had a temper tantrum all the way to the parking lot. He is growing up, but he won't let me forget that he is still 3!

5. Were there big or little potties?/Did you use the potty? "They had big potties, not little potties.....I just looked at it......the boys went this way and the girls went that way"

6. Did you play with the Spiderman that Miss Sarah brought for you? "No I just looked at him....he wasn't red Spiderman, he was just blue and red."

7. Did you listen to a story? "I just listen to that story about the raccoon kissing the hand....that was silly!.....Just like that hand with the pink heart on it"
(He did a painted hand print picture and glued a pink heart in the middle)

8. He added: " I just tell her that word E -R-I-K" and "That boy just color on my picture"

If you look very closely you can see a blue mark on the top paper. That is where the other boy drew on Erik's book.

Sullivan's Island

We spent a rainy, Sunday evening at Sullivan's Island. We flew a Spiderman kite and played in the waves. After that we had ice cream at Baskin Robbins.

Charleston Aquarium

We went to the Charleston Aquarium on Monday. We enjoyed all the aquatic life there.

Kyle was especially fond of the turtles. You can barely
hear him say "turtle" in the video clip.

Packages in the mail

Erik begged Greg's parents for a Bat Cave when they were here in July. Of course, being the wonderful grandparents that they are, they obliged. When Erik's early birthday gift arrived he was extremely excited to open it.

Now that I have boys, I play Superheros.... I don't mind not playing Barbies or Strawberry Shortcake. Boys are COOL!

The same day another package arrived. Erik is starting preschool in a few days. He got a new backpack. He says that it is "Spiderman RED."

Lightning McKyle

Kyle loves his tricycle and drives it all over the house as fast as he can. Crashing into everything along the way is lots of fun too.

Are you ready Kyle?

Erik and Kyle were playing cars so nicely that I decided to take a video to remember it. They have their moments of being sweet to each other and it makes me smile. I'm glad I get to share it with everyone else this time.

And a few days later.....they were playing baseball together.

Spaghetti baby

I couldn't resist taking a picture of Kyle eating spaghetti tonight. He was such a mess and mad about it too. It reminds of a picture we had in our kitchen when I was growing up of a crying baby with a bowl of spaghetti dumped on his head.

Junior Firefighters

We took over the Fire Museum in North Charleston last Thursday morning.
My friend, Kelly, and her boys Jake (5) and Josh (3) went with us. Fun stuff!

Lynnea's visit

Lynnea and her kids....Jessica and Rylan came to visit last week. They drove all the way from the mountains of North Carolina. We spent Sunday afternoon at the beach (Kyle stayed home with Dad). The kids loved jumping in the waves and building a sandcastle. We also found a starfish.

Steel Dynamics Kids

Papa Rusty sent matching shirts to ALL the grandkids. Erik and Kyle wanted to show off their new shirts to celebrate Papa's new job. Congrats Papa! We can't wait to see your new house in New Albany.
